Il Divo premiers the operatic pop in Bucharest
Looking back at their fabulous performance at the Queen's Jubilee, Il Divo have included Bucharest between the destinations of their newest world tour.
Her Majesty The Queen has invited them for a cup of tea at Windsor Castle, and the great romanian public will have the chance to enjoy their music on September 23rd, in front of the Parliament's Palace, in Constitutiei Square.
The band formed by the well known british TV figure, Simon Cowell, consists of four artists of different nationalities: the american tenor David Miller, the spanish baritone Carols Marin, the swiss tenor Urs Bühler and the pop singer Sébastien Izambard.
Besides the nationality mix, Il Divo uses a blend of musical styles, thus combining pop music with opera the result being more known as operatic pop. Measured by Il Divo's perspective, operatic pop's succes looks great, if one takes into consideration over 26 million albums sold worldwide.
Il Divo was formed in 2004, and reached succes immediately after launching the first album (also called Il Divo), in the same year. Ancora followed in early 2005, and The Christmas Collection in winter. The next year, 2006, saw the band invited as opening act for the world renowned Barbara Streisand. Having the advantage of playing in no less than four languages (english, french, german and italian), Il Divo was the perfect choice for the FIFA World Cup 2006 Anthem, The Time Of Our Lives alongside american popstar Toni Braxton.
The biggest Il Divo show to date is the one from December 2011, held at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium, in Asuncion, Paraguay. More than 34,000 people payed a ticket to see them. Now, after conquering the hearts of millions worldwide, it is time for the romanians to enjoy Il Divo, in a magnificent event.
