The members of this trio are no others than Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl (drums, backing vocals), Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards, backing vocals) and Queens Of The Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme (guitar, vocals). Dave Grohl played the drums on the Queens of the Stone Age album “Songs for the Deaf” and during the first part of the subsequent tour. John Paul Jones played the piano, mandolin and mellotron on the “soft part” of the Foo Fighters double album “In Your Honor” (2005). When the paths of the three musicians crossed, they decided to collaborate on a project.

Soon afterwards, the album was recorded in Josua's “Pink Duck” studios in Burbank. The sessions took place between February and July 2009. All thirteen songs were produced by the band itself and encompass, among other things, studio versions of the songs first presented on August 9, 2009 in Chicago's “Cabaret Metro”.
