The Kálnoky Castle Concerts Summer Season closes with an open-air performance
As the grand finale of the Kálnoky Castle Concerts Summer Season, an extraordinary musical experience awaits the audience on Friday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the gardens of the Kálnoky Castle in Micloșoara. The concert will feature the most famous songs of Coldplay, one of the world’s most popular bands, reimagined in Renaissance style, performed on piano and violin.
The uniqueness of this concert lies in the fact that well-known modern hits such as “Viva La Vida,” “Clocks,” and “Fix You” are reborn in the musical language of the 17th century, enriched with Baroque elegance and lyrical depth.
The soundscape is both timeless and surprising: the expressive power of the piano combined with the intimate lyricism of the violin casts a new light on the familiar melodies. All this will be enhanced by a fairy-tale setting, as the concert takes place under the starry sky in the castle’s enchanting garden, accompanied by light shows and atmospheric illumination. The organizers will also welcome the audience with a buffet dinner.
Performers:
Botond Szőcs, pianist, has secured his place among the leading artists of today through his energetic and unique temperament, the emotional intensity of his performances, and the persuasive force of his artistic expression. He graduated from the Faculty of Music at Transilvania University of Brașov, where he studied under the guidance of the renowned Professor Dr. Stela Drăgulin, a prominent figure of the international piano school. In 2024 he completed his doctoral studies and is currently working as an assistant professor at the same faculty. Alongside his academic career, Botond is also conductor and pianist at the Tamási Áron Theatre in Transylvania. His solo career began at the age of 17 with the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Sibiu, marking the start of a brilliant path. Since then, he has performed with many renowned Romanian symphony orchestras and toured in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Malta, Hungary, Montenegro, Moldova, China, Vietnam, Dubai, and Cuba, demonstrating the versatility and refinement that characterize his performances.
Előd Gábor is an exceptionally talented violinist. He studied violin in Miercurea Ciuc and at Transilvania University of Brașov, and further honed his skills through several international masterclasses with renowned musicians. He has performed in numerous chamber music and orchestral concerts alongside world-class artists. He is currently a member of the Brașov Opera Orchestra, violist of the Kronstadt Quartet, member of the Concerto Spiralis Early Music Ensemble and the Miercurea Ciuc Chamber Orchestra, as well as guest concertmaster of the Georgius Chamber Orchestra in Sfântu Gheorghe.
This performance is a natural continuation of the castle’s summer concert series, following the highly successful Vangelis Open Air evening. The organizers promise yet another unforgettable musical journey.
