2CELLOS were a Croatian cello duo consisting of Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser, both classically trained musicians. The two met as teenagers at a masterclass in Pula, Croatia, and later studied at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, continuing their education at prestigious European institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Trinity College of Music.
They rose to fame in 2011 with their viral cello rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal,” which gained millions of views on YouTube within weeks. Following the viral success, they signed with Sony Masterworks and released six studio albums: 2CELLOS (2011), In2ition (2013), Celloverse (2015), Score (2017), Let There Be Cello (2018), and Dedicated (2021).
Their music uniquely blends classical technique with rock, pop, and film music, featuring cello arrangements of songs by U2, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Nirvana, and Coldplay. With the album Score, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, the duo explored cinematic music, covering themes from Game of Thrones, Titanic, The Godfather, Gladiator, and more.
2CELLOS performed worldwide on major stages such as Madison Square Garden and Arena di Verona, and collaborated with global icons including Sir Elton John, George Michael, Lang Lang, Zucchero, and Steve Vai. They also appeared on major TV shows like The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Today Show, and Glee.
Known for their electrifying live performances and genre-crossing style, 2CELLOS brought instrumental music to a new generation of listeners. In 2022, they concluded their journey with the “Dedicated World Tour”, marking the end of the duo’s collaboration. Afterward, Luka Šulić focused on his family life, while Stjepan Hauser continued performing as a solo artist.
