The Black Monolith of Primăverii” – as many like to call it – is a 1,200 sqm building, spread across 5 levels, equipped with all the spaces, facilities, services, programs and expert staff required by contemporary museography standards.
The museum holds 1,000 artworks created by over 250 Romanian and international artists, including Ion Țuculescu, Andrei Cădere, Horia Bernea, Ion Grigorescu, Dan Perjovschi, Herman Nitsch, Lucio Fontana, Olafur Eliasson, Richard Long and Michelangelo Pistoletto. Among these, more than 120 were exhibited on floors 1 and 2 between October 2018 and August 2023, within the collection Limited Liability Stylistic Diversity, while in 2025, for the first time, the museum presents its international contemporary art collection, as part of the exhibition All Our Todays, showcasing 50 world-renowned artists who have shifted the perception of contemporary art in the last six decades.
Representing, most likely, the most significant private investment in such a cultural project in Romania, MARe takes on the role of catalyst with utmost seriousness, becoming a new cultural landmark on the map of Bucharest and beyond. New both chronologically and conceptually – in its discourse, approach, proposals and in its major educational department – MARe aims to function in every sense as an “event-space”: a cultural hub open to art lovers and related events.
