Anastacia Lyn Newkirk (born September 17, 1968), known professionally as Anastacia, is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer. She made her debut in 2000 with the song "I'm Outta Love", which quickly became a hit across Europe, reaching number one. The track was included on her debut album Not That Kind, released later that same year. The album was followed in 2001 by Freak of Nature, which featured the hits "Paid My Dues" and "One Day in Your Life", both helping the album sell over six million copies worldwide.
In early 2003, Anastacia was diagnosed with breast cancer, forcing her to temporarily pause her artistic career. A year later, she announced her return to the music scene with the single "Left Outside Alone", which became a global success, reaching number one in several countries and territories across Europe. This was followed by the album Anastacia, which sold over ten million copies internationally, along with singles "Sick and Tired", "Welcome to My Truth", and "Heavy on My Heart", which further boosted the album's popularity. A compilation album, Pieces of a Dream, was released a year later.
On April 21, 2007, Anastacia married her bodyguard, Wayne Newton, in a ceremony held in Mexico. Her fourth studio album, Heavy Rotation, was released at the end of 2008, although it did not achieve the same success as her previous albums. Over the course of her career, Anastacia has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide.
