Electric Castle – Beyond Music, Beyond Time
Electric Castle is more than just a festival – it’s an immersive experience, a contemporary story that blends music, art, nature, and historical heritage in a unique setting at the foot of the Bánffy Castle in Bonțida, Transylvania.
Since its very first edition, the festival has redefined how live culture is experienced in Central and Eastern Europe, offering the audience a day and night adventure that transcends the ordinary.
Loved by artists and festival-goers alike for its high production standards, creativity, and quality, Electric Castle is one of the few truly 24-hour European festivals. Music, performances, multimedia installations, stand-up comedy, workshops, fashion & food areas all merge into a continuous rhythm within a spectacular landscape that fuses tradition and innovation.
Throughout its ten editions, more than 1,500 international artists have performed on its stages, including Gorillaz, Twenty One Pilots, Florence + The Machine, Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Macklemore, Iggy Pop, Skrillex, Jessie J, Deadmau5, Paolo Nutini, Bring Me The Horizon, Bonobo and many others.
In 2024, Electric Castle attracted over 274,000 attendees, including 18,000 campers, making it the largest camping festival in Romania.
🏰 Bánffy Castle – The Heart of the Festival
The unique location of Bánffy Castle – a 15th-century historical landmark – is more than a backdrop; it’s a living part of the festival’s identity. Electric Castle constantly contributes to the restoration and revitalization of the castle and the Bonțida village, supporting the local community and raising awareness about Transylvania’s cultural heritage.
Starting with its fifth edition, the castle opened its gates to the public, hosting exhibitions, interactive installations, and contemporary art projects. In 2019, it became a true New Media Castle, featuring international artists such as Memo Akten, Nonotak, Matthew Schreiber, 404 ZERO, Shohei Fujimoto, Children of the Light, and RNDR, transforming the space into a living art installation.
🎶 More Than Music
Electric Castle constantly explores new forms of expression. Each edition represents a laboratory of ideas and artistic experimentation – from audiovisual performances to contemporary theater, ephemeral architecture, digital art, and cultural dialogues.
The festival has become a platform for both emerging and established artists, bringing together a wide variety of genres – from indie, alternative, rock, and electronic to hip-hop, jazz, and reinterpreted classical music.

Experimentalism, quality, care for nature and heritage, and an avant-garde spirit define Electric Castle’s philosophy.
