Balázs Havasi is a Hungarian pianist and composer born on September 18, 1975. He is known for his innovative musical projects that combine piano with symphony orchestra, rock drums, and other contemporary influences.
Havasi began playing the piano at the age of four and studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where he won several awards, including first place in a piano competition organized by the Yamaha Foundation of Europe. By the age of 21, he had already become a teacher at the Weiner Leó Conservatory.
Between 2000 and 2005, he released several solo piano albums and collaborated with EMI, after which he founded his own music production company. In 2006, he formed the band The Unbending Trees with Kristóf Hajós, releasing the albums Chemically Happy (Is The New Sad) and Meteor.
In 2008, Havasi began collaborating with producer Csaba Marjai on the Havasi Symphonic Production, which debuted in 2009 with nearly 100 artists and a symphony orchestra. During this project, he set a world record by striking the same piano key 498 times in one minute, officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the fastest pianist in the world. His symphonic production earned 11 platinum records and included collaborations with artists such as Lisa Gerrard, Karl Jenkins, Leona Lewis, Ronan Keating, and Youssou N'Dour.
In 2010, Havasi launched the Cultural Bridge Project, an artistic initiative that brought together European and Chinese musicians. Later, he created the Drum & Piano project with percussionist Endi Kiss, continuing to tour internationally.
In 2022, he signed a global recording contract with Universal Music Group, making his entire discography available digitally for the first time.
Among his notable performances are appearances at the Shanghai World Expo (2010), Sydney Opera House (2017), Wembley Arena (2019), and Royal Albert Hall (2023) — where he became the first Hungarian composer to perform a full concert of his original works at this prestigious venue.
