Marco Mezquida is one of the most brilliant and innovative musicians on the contemporary Iberian music scene. Born in Menorca in 1987, he graduated from the ESMUC in 2009 and has since become a leading figure in European jazz.
A highly versatile pianist, Mezquida seamlessly blends styles such as jazz, free improvisation, classical music (romantic, impressionist, baroque and contemporary), pop and flamenco, creating a unique and deeply expressive musical language.
He has released over 20 albums as a leader and contributed to more than 50 projects as a sideman or collaborator, working with renowned artists including Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman and Billy Hart.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards such as the Alicia Award (2021), several Enderrock awards for Best Jazz Album of the Year, the BMW Jazz Award in Munich, and the City of Barcelona Award (2019). He has also been named Musician of the Year four times by the Catalan Association of Jazz and Modern Musicians.
Mezquida has performed in over 30 countries, appearing on major international stages both as a solo artist and with his trio or other collaborative projects. He has also composed music for theatre productions and performed with symphony orchestras and big bands.
