Russell Crowe’s Indoor Garden Party is an eclectic music project that began in 2009 in a pub outside London and has since evolved into a vibrant live show led by the Academy Award-winning actor and his long-time musician friends.
At its heart is The Gentlemen Barbers, a band Crowe has been developing over the past few years, through long sessions of writing, playing, and recording. The lineup includes old collaborators from his earlier bands Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts and The Ordinary Fear of God: Dave Kelly (drums), Stewart Kirwan (trumpet), Stu Hunter (piano), Chris Kamzelas (guitar), and James Hazelwood (bass). Joining them is Irish powerhouse vocalist Lorraine O’Reilly, whose raspy, soulful voice has become a hallmark of the project.
The Indoor Garden Party repertoire swings freely between R&B, gospel, raw country murder ballads, dark waltzes, and powerful singalongs. The show blends storytelling with high-energy performance, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and electrifying.
For Crowe, music has always been as central as film: “My journey to movies started with playing in bands and musical theatre. Live music keeps me connected to immediacy and emotion.”
Now, with over 40 international awards (including Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globes, SAG) to his name, Russell Crowe continues to balance cinema with live performance. Indoor Garden Party is his way of celebrating the joy of stories and the raw energy of a live band – whether played in the intimacy of a pub or on the stage of a grand theatre.
