Der US-Singer/Sonwriter Ryan Adams wurde 1974 in Jacksonville in North Carolina geboren und sammelte schon früh Erfahrung in den Bands The Patty Duke Syndrome und Whiskeytown. Danach startete er eine Solokarriere, die mit der Veröffentlichung des Albums "Gold" (2001) immer erfolgreichere Züge annahm. Es folgten weitere Alben, die er zum Teil mit seiner neu formierten Band The Cardinals aufnahm: "Demolotion", "Rock'n Roll", "Cold Roses", "Jacksonville City Nights", "29", "Orion", "Ashes and Fire" und "Live After Deaf".
Zuletzt veröffentlichte Ryan Adams nach drei Jahren Pause ein neues Studioalbum. Der selbst betitelte Longplayer, den Adams in seinen PAX-AM Studios in Los Angeles selbst produzierte, erscheint via PAX-AM/Columbia Records. "Ryan Adams" ist der Follow-Up zu "Ashes & Fire", das in den USA und Großbritannien die Top Ten der Charts erreichte. In Deutschland peakte das Album auf Platz 34. Die erste Single aus dem elf Songs umfassenden Album ist der Opener "Gimme Something Good".
