Die schwedische Power-Metal-Band Sabaton wurde 1999 von Joakim Brodén, Oskar Montelius, Rikard Sundén, Pär Sundström und Richard Larsson gegründet. Inspiriert wurden die fünf Jungs von ihrer Heimatstadt Falun, um ihrem Heavy Metal den nötigen Geist einzuhauchen. Fünf Jahre nach ihrer ersten Demo-CD "Fist for Fight" (2000) veröffentlichten Sabaton 2005 ihr Debüt-Album "Primo Victoria". Nur ein Jahr später folgte Album Nr. 2 "Attero Dominatus", mit dem sie erstmals die Charts enterten. Ihren Erfolgskurs behielt die schwedische Metalband mit den folgenden Alben bei. Ihr aktuelles Album "Heroes" (2014) erreichte Platz 3 der Album-Charts in Deutschland und Platz 11 in Österreich.
