A new large-scale theatrical production of the London West End musical, based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, will premiere at Romexpo from October 28–31, 2027.
A global phenomenon inspired by one of the best-selling books of all time, this award-winning stage adaptation of THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ has already attracted millions of viewers to theaters around the world. Now, a new world-class creative team has come together to invite Romanian audiences to join Frodo and The Fellowship on their epic journey, immersing them in the wonderful world of Middle-earth through brilliant direction, a thrilling score, stunning costumes, and breathtaking special effects.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS – The Epic Stage Adventure is a spectacular event based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous trilogy. The beloved Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, leaves his nephew, Frodo, his inheritance—including his most precious possession—a gold ring; a gesture that sets off a perilous journey through Middle-earth, toward the dark lands of Mordor. Supported by The Fellowship, Frodo embarks on a journey fraught with pitfalls that tests the courage, loyalty, and enduring power of friendship.
Directed by Bruce Guthrie, the production features set design by Tony and Olivier Award winner Andrzej Goulding, with a libretto and lyrics by Shaun McKenna and Matthew Warchus, and the moving music is composed by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman, the Finnish folk group Värttinä, and Tony Award winner Christopher Nightingale.
The story and iconic characters come to life on stage as this magnificent adventure unfolds in Bucharest at Romexpo from October 28–31, 2027.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS – The Epic Stage Adventure is produced by Kevin Wallace and William Bennett for KW Productions, by George Isaak for People Entertainment Group, and by Middle-earth Enterprises, LLC, with Peter Huntley and Callum Runciman serving as executive producers and general managers for Smart Entertainment.
