Drawing by Rules
In this workshop, we will take inspiration from the works of Bernard Frize, an artist who explores repetition, rhythm, and the creative process through simple rules and repetitive gestures. We will begin with a short tour of the exhibition, where we will observe how shapes, lines, and structures develop from seemingly simple systems that generate surprising compositions.
In the practical part of the workshop, each participant will create a drawing based on one or more working rules. These may relate to the type of lines used, the way shapes are repeated, or how elements connect with one another. As the drawing develops, participants will discover how a simple rule can lead to highly personal and unexpected results.
The workshop focuses on process and experimentation, encouraging participants to see drawing as an exploration of possibilities rather than an image that must be planned from the very beginning.
During the workshop, children will learn:
- how to build images using simple rules
- how to observe rhythm and repetition within a composition
- how creativity can emerge through limitations and experimentation
