Experimental Printing
MARe/Museum of Recent Art invites you to a special workshop dedicated to families, inspired by the exhibition of the French artist Bernard Frize. Known for his interest in work processes, repetitiveness, color and experiment, Frize transforms simple gestures and seemingly banal rules into complex, surprising and visually energetic compositions.
Before the practical activity, participants will visit the exhibition and discover how the artist explores the relationship between control and chance, between system and freedom of gesture. We will observe together how a painting can be born from the repetition of an action, from the use of unusual tools or from the dialogue between color and material.
Starting from these observations, the workshop proposes a series of printing and color transfer experiences, through which parents and children will create original abstract works together. We will experiment with wet crepe paper, which leaves surprising traces and chromatic gradients, with pieces of cardboard used as drawing and printing tools, as well as with other materials capable of generating unexpected textures, rhythms and graphic structures. In addition to the practical part, we will integrate a series of games and creative exercises aimed at strengthening the relationship between parent and child and stimulating observation and visual expressiveness.
The workshop is designed as a collaborative experience between parent and child. During the activities, the two will work both individually and together, alternating the roles of creator, observer and working partner. Through art, participants will practice communication, mutual listening and building a common image.
During the workshop, participants:
- will experiment with various printing techniques
- will discover the creative universe of Bernard Frize
- will acquire knowledge of chromatics and visual composition
- will create an experimental creative work together
