The secret of simple shapes
In this workshop, children will discover the sculptural universe of Constantin Brâncuși, from the monumental complex in Târgu Jiu, to the “Child Bust” or “Miss Pogany”. Visiting together the photography exhibition in the basement of the museum, we will discuss the way the artist uses light, shadow and volumes to express himself. We will observe, in particular, the expressive essentialization of the world, seen through the attentive eyes of the artist.
For the practical part of our activity, we will go up to the workshop room to explore this stylization of forms ourselves through drawing. Each participant will choose an object, an imaginary character or even a sculpture by Brâncuși on which they will apply a personal filter, adding or removing details.
We will use mixed techniques, simultaneously thinking of chromatic palettes to accompany our creations: colored pencil and graphite, chalky and oil pastel, felt-tip pens and markers. We will work on black paper.
During the workshop, children will learn:
- interesting information about the life and work of Constantin Brâncuși
- how to make expressive and creative drawings
- how to find inspiration in works of art
- how to use mixed media to express themselves freely
